Electrical outlet safety for babies
Low outlets are right at a curious baby's height. Covering them is easy and cheap — just choose covers a child can't pull out and turn into a choking hazard.
Cover unused outlets
Use snug plug covers on every unused socket, including behind furniture.
Use self-closing plates for active outlets
For outlets in daily use, a sliding self-closing wall plate is safer than a cap you remove and might lose.
Watch the choking risk
Removable caps are a choking hazard if a child pulls one out — keep spares out of reach and check covers often.
